Professional Cyclist. Adventurer. Dreamer. Cookie Monster!
Those are just four little ways to describe my crazy life, my crazy dreams, and my crazy obsession with cookies!
I grew up in Utah and have just about the best family I think a person can have. Four incredible parents, a kick ass big Sis and two of the greatest Grandparents on this earth! Each of these people, along with many other family members and life long friends, have always supported me and all my crazy dreams. They are truly my inspiration and the reason I fight everyday to be the very best I can be.
I currently live in Fairfax California with my beautiful girlfriend Olivia (5 time Irish National Champion, yeah she is a badass!) and we love it there. At heart I will always be a Utah girl but I can't deny my love for Northern California! The Redwoods, the ocean, Mt. Tam right out my front door and so many roads to explore make it the perfect place to live and train.
Growing up I always had big dreams, I always wanted to be something or do something important, something challenging, something big! The road that brought me to cycling wasn't a straight road or smooth road by any means, but it is the road that has made me who I am today. I started college with the dream of going to Medical School. I had a background in competitive soccer but I knew once I started college that I wanted to focus on my academics. I was a type A, 4.0 student, with extracurriculars out my ears and was certain I'd make a great cardiothoracic surgeon. College started with a bang, I studied my brains out and literally spent nearly every hour of the day in the library. I quickly realized I needed an athletic escape and a way to blow off my competitive steam somewhere other than the classroom. It was during this time that I met the most incredible and definitely most influential person in my life, Matt Bradley. Matt was an activist, an educator, a writer, folklorist, and a cyclist. He taught me so many things in life, one of which was the power of a bike ride. Matt passed away in March of 2012 and not a day goes by that I don't think about him. Every single time I get on my bike I thank Matt, not only for sharing his passion for cycling, but sharing his passion for every single moment in life. Magpies meant something special to Matt, they are mischievous birds with symbolism in folklore dating back for centuries. They beat to their own drum with a story to tell, and that was something Matt could relate to. The symbol on my home page is just another small way to have a little part of Matt in everything I do.
I started my professional career with Peanut Butter & Co. TWENTY12 in 2011, Exergy TWENTY12 in 2012, Specialized Lululemon for 2013-2014, and Velocio-SRAM in 2015. I signed for Orica-AIS for 2016 and couldn't be more excited!
I am an all around rider who specializes in Time Trialing, and have big goals and dreams for 2016 and beyond with a huge focus on qualifying for and performing at the World Championship and to the Olympics. I would love to share that journey with all of you!
Life is what you make it and I think I'll make it an adventurous one!
xoxo
